The Learning Assessment Capacity Index (LACI) provides a snapshot of countries' readiness to produce the data needed to improve learning outcomes and monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goal on Education.
The workshop focused on the thematic and global data and indicators required for monitoring the targets of the Education 2030 and Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development agendas. Special attention will be given to alignment between international (SDG 4-Education 2030), regional and national monitoring frameworks.
UIS presentations
During 3 days of general meetings and 2 days of bilateral sessions, 50 statisticians from 21 Member States as well as UNESCO and UNICEF specialists discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to collecting, analyzing and reporting of education statistics in view of the SDG 4 – Education 2030 agenda.
Financing of education remains a key issue for governments and donors. Reliable and comparable statistics on the sources and use of funding are needed to improve education planning, management and resource mobilization. However, many countries are unable to produce the data required for effective monitoring and planning. In this context, the UIS in partnership with the IIEP and the IIEP/Pôle de Dakar and with financial support of the Global Partnership for Education has been implementing a project built around the National Education Accounts methodology.
