The bi-annual Survey on Literacy and Educational Attainment launches on November 27. The data collected will complement the information from the UIS Survey of Formal Education. The questionnaires for the 2021 literacy and attainment survey are posted on the UIS website, http://uis.unesco.org/uis-questionnaires and are available to download in English, French and Spanish.

Together, the data from these two surveys form a central part of the UIS global education database and are used to monitor and report on progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on education.

In September, the UIS announced a new core system of indicators to streamline reporting requirements for Member States, while continuing collection and production of key SDG 4 indicators necessary to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
