The document provides a snapshot of the latest information available on how COVID-19 affects different aspects of public and private life – from economic and environmental fluctuations to impacts on individual lives in terms of income, education, employment and violence as well as changes to public services such as civil aviation and postal services. It also pulls focus to highlight the plight of vulnerable sub-population groups, including women and children as well as certain geographical regions.
The statistics presented in the report show inflections in trends that would have been unimaginable only a few months ago. The document also provides a glimpse into the challenges facing national statistical offices as they navigate the challenges to continue their vital work in these unprecedented times.
