Launch of the 2023 UIS Survey on expenditure on cultural and natural heritage (SDG 11.4.1)

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) launched the fourth annual Survey on expenditure on cultural and natural heritage for SDG Indicator 11.4.1 on 6 September 2023.

The respondents received a link to the online questionnaire in LimeSurvey, to facilitate the user experience. The survey is available in English, French and Spanish. The response deadline is 6 November 2023.

The results of the 2022 survey are available in the report SDG 11 Synthesis report by UN Habitat, showing an increasing number of countries completing the questionnaire.

SDG Indicator 11.4.1 is defined as total expenditure per capita spent on the preservation, protection and conservation of all cultural and natural heritage, by source of funding (public, private), type of heritage (cultural, natural) and level of government (national, regional and local/municipal).
