Average number of people reading a particular publication in a day. The term includes both the individual who purchased the publication and others who have read the publication. Note: circulation is calculated by the number of copies sold and distributed for free, but readership can only be assessed by a survey. Hence, audience/reader figures are larger than circulation due to the fact that a single copy of a title may have multiple readers.
